Committee

Dawn Hanny - Current Chair
I’ve been a parent at Prior Weston/Fortune Park for approximately 10 years now. My eldest son Jamie attended Fortune Park nursery, then Prior Weston School, and is now is Secondary School. My youngest son Sam is in year 1. I tend to be known around the campus as the busy woman with a great deal going on. I run a very exciting and busy Beaver Scout colony in the City, I organise and help out with many community based events, usually ending up as the DJ and providing the music, and more recently my partner Dave and I have performed at the BBQ with his band. Oh yes, and I work full time as a Real Estate Manager.

I’m always hearing the quote “if you need someone to help, ask a busy person” and I think that this is a fantastic way of describing the parents on the PTA committee. We’re all busy in our own lives but we all find time to help out with the planning and organising of the events etc. I find it fun and I love being part of the wider community which is Golden Lane. Another saying which is definitely true is “Many hands make light work” which is our PTA motto. We hope that by inviting more parents into the PTA we will be able to develop more and more ideas and spread the range of organising.

The PTA is all about community, and one way we reach out to parents and children in the school is by the events we run each year. We hope that our calendar of events has something in it for everyone, we also aim to be transparent about our fundraising. We aim to inform about the reasons for our fundraising and the where the funds are actually being spent. I look forward to the challenge of being the new chairperson and would like to extend my thanks to Lucille for being an enthusiastic and well organised Chairperson: she’ll be a hard act to follow.

Lucille Glenn - former chair
My daughter Megan Joy is in year four. We both love attending Prior Weston. I never thought I would be going back to Primary school and experiencing it all over again, but here I am a former chair of the PTA and a Parent Governor.

Helping with the running of the shool and the PTA is very rewarding and open to all parents to join. Both groups involve working with a great bunch of lively mums and dads that volunteer their time willingly and put their heart and energies into enabling Prior Weston to have more choices and outings for our children. As I set off each morning to my voluntary position in my Green Business, I am assured that Megan is happy and well cared for and that makes me happy
